Dr. Pavlov Rameau appeared in court again today and was denied bail and remanded back to prison pending further hearing dates.

After hearing preliminary evidence against him Magistrate Kirsty Ann Gunn denied bail and noted that he was considered a danger to children and could not be allowed out on bail is given the serious nature of the allegations against him.

It is alleged by the DPP's office that Dr. Rameau had an extensive catalog of child pornographic images in his possession including 1,647 images discovered thus far. They further indicate there is a reason to believe the number could be significantly higher as the police continue to examine additional hard drives and material in the ongoing investigation. Prosecutor Hutchinson said that that there was extensive images found that had been organized into albums and accumulated over a lifetime leading one to believe that Dr. Rameau is a sexual predator and “there is a risk of other offenses.”

She further stated that the defendant had software designed to wipe his hard drive clean. Defense attorney Prathna Bodden said Dr. Rameau “vehemently denies he requested any photographs at all” from the victim. She went on to express her frustration with the RCIPS for dragging their feet with the investigation. She argued that due to his community ties and surrendered passport he was not a flight risk.

Magistrate Gunn did not agree and said it was too much of a risk to release him on bail adding it is incredibly difficult to control the content he could access while on bail and there are no bail conditions to ensure that would not happen.
