(CMR) Today, on Youth Climate Action Day, the Premier and Minister for Sustainability and Climate Resiliency addressed the youth of the Cayman Islands.
The message hopes to motivate and challenge our youth to engage in climate action, encourage conversations about tackling and mitigating climate change, as well as to encourage and empower our youth to get connected, stay connected and implement as many green initiatives as they can.
The team at the Ministry knows we have our very own Greta Thunberg’s here in the Cayman Islands!
It is your generation who will suffer the blunt effects of climate change and there is no Planet B. We are going to empower and give you the tools to help us save the planet for you and the generations to follow.
The world needs new and fresh ideas that protect and preserve our environment, and there are some great ideas inside all of you, no matter your age.
So today, on Youth Climate Action Day, we are excited to launch the Cayman Islands Youth Climate Action Challenge.
Here’s how to join the challenge:
The Challenge: Post pictures and videos of any activities that support climate change within your schools or at home with your families. Tag on Instagram @caymangov or on Facebook @caymanisalndsgov and use hashtags #caymanclimateaction and #savetheplanet. There are no limits on submissions – so post away.
Prize: The winners will be showcased on national TV on CIGTV’s Spotlight show. Winners will be able to show off their climate action plans and discuss the top five key areas they would like to see addressed.
Deadline: Friday, January 14, 2022.
