(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is warning American football fans ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl event to not drink and drive. In a statement issued on Saturday, they noted that the increased activities over the weekend could lead to some being tempted to break the law but they should be warned that the police will be out on the roadways.
They shared the following statement:
The RCIPS is aware that there may be increased activities over the weekend, particularly this coming Sunday, and as such, we are reminding the drivers to practice safe driving habits while enjoying the festivities.
The public is being reminded not to drink and drive especially, but instead to plan ahead and hire a public transportation of your choice or appoint a designated driver if you intend to drink while out and about. Police officers will be carrying out high visibility patrols and spontaneous spot checks to discourage poor driving behaviours. In particular officers will be on the lookout for persons driving whilst intoxicated and persons speeding on the roadways.
The RCIPS is encouraging everyone to do the right thing and #staysafecayman.
