(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) have now confirmed that the skeletal remains found in Bodden Town last September have been there for at least 75-years.
American forensic archaeologists and anthropologists have examined the remains and determined they are NOT from any recently deceased person. As such, there will be no further investigation required.
The authorities are unable to identify who the remains are and will now work with HM Coroner's office for the proper return and interment of the remains.
There was huge speculation last year during the excavation that the remains could have been those of a missing nurse, Kerry-Ann Baker who went missing in 2011.
