UPDATE 6:30 pm – The passenger in the vehicle has now passed away from his injuries sustained.
(CMR) Cayman Marl Road reported earlier that serious motor vehicle accident occurred in the earlier morning hours.
We have been reliably informed that the driver was involved in a police chase that started close to the Bodden Town Police Station. He collided with a white Audi and the chase continued until he crashed into a wall by Northward Road. There were two males in the vehicle.
The Prospect passenger is said to be in critical condition at this time.
OFFICIAL POLICE RELEASE
Just before 1:00 am on this morning, 1 September, Police and other Emergency Services were dispatched by 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a Motor Vehicle Collision that took place in the vicinity of Doubloon Drive, Bodden Town.
The collision took place when the Driver of the vehicle involved lost control and collided with the wall of a residence in the area. The vehicle had two occupants at the time of the collision, both with serious injuries and one man in critical condition.
They were both transported to the HSA Hospital by the Ambulance after being assisted out of the vehicle by Officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service.
The Matter is under investigation by the Police and the roadway is currently blocked on both sides.
Motorists heading into Bodden Town are being diverted through Will T Drive in the Lower Valley area and Motorists heading in the direction of George Town from the Eastern Districts are being diverted through Northward.
All Motorist are being asked to avoid the area if possible and to cooperate with the diversions as much as possible. The RCIPS apologizes for any inconveniences caused by the diversion.
