(CMR) Leader of Jamaica's Opposition Party, Dr. Peter Phillips, is at home in recovery after receiving treatment for colon cancer.
The announcement was made in a release by the People's National Party (PNP) on Tuesday who confirmed that the politician has stage three colon cancer.
According to the PNP, Phillips recently wrapped up treatment for the disease on April 6, and will continue to receive treatment, in the form of chemotherapy, over the next few months, at an outpatient facility.
The PNP further revealed that Philips who will be on two weeks leave, will continue on with his public duties after the time period.
Phillips’ medical and surgical teams, according to the party are “optimistic of complete remission based on the worldwide experience of managing this stage of cancer.”
