UPDATE: Following further investigation and analysis of CCTV footage of the collision involving a pedestrian which occurred on Shedden Road on 31 August, police have determined that the vehicle involved was a reddish-colored SUV, not green as previously described.
The matter remains under investigation, and police continue to appeal for any witnesses or persons who may be aware of such a vehicle that has damage to the front fender and/or windscreen to contact the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254.
(CMR) A pedestrian who was struck by a motor vehicle on Shedden Road Tuesday evening, 31 August, has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Police reports are that shortly after 8 pm yesterday, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Shedden Road involving the pedestrian. It was reported that the pedestrian was crossing the road near the Edward Street intersection when she was struck by a vehicle described as a green SUV, which was traveling west. The vehicle then turned on to Edward Street and left the scene.
Emergency services attended the location, and the victim was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance to be treated for serious injuries. She remains in critical but stable condition.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit. Anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information on the vehicle involved is asked to contact the TRPU at 649-6254.
