(CMR) Over 200 pounds of ganja was recovered from a home in Prospect on Friday (July 17).
Reports from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) are that the drugs were discovered as police conducted a search of the address.
According to the RCIPS, as the officers approached, a male carrying a suitcase exited the address and got into a Jeep.
Officers attempted to stop the driver and vehicle but he made off driving dangerously and at high speed.
Officers proceeded to search the address and discovered a number of cases of ganja.
The total weight of the recovered ganja is approximately 241lbs.
A female present at the time was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the importation of ganja, possessing ganja with intent to supply, and other related offences.
At about 6:30PM, the Jeep that had sped off from the location was found abandoned nearby and the suitcase and other items were recovered.
The driver of the Jeep, a man, age 27 of East End, was subsequently located in the Prospect area and arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the importation of ganja.
Both the male and female were taken into custody and have been formally charged with several offenses.

1. Being Concerned in the Importation of a Controlled Drug
2. Possession with Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug
3. Possession of a Drug Utensil
4. Dangerous Driving
5. Consumption of Ganja
The woman, age 22 of George Town, has been charged with:
1. Being Concerned in the Importation of a Controlled Drug
2. Possession with Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug
3. Possession of a Controlled Drug
4. Possession of a Drug Utensil
5. Consumption of Ganja
