(CMR) Caymanian job seekers will have the opportunity to interview and be hired on the spot at the Employing Cayman job marketplace, which will be held next month. Local aviation company Dagarro will be both sponsoring and participating in the event.
Job seekers are invited to attend the Marriott Grand Cayman for the job marketplace on March 20, from 9 am to 4 pm.
Organizers said Employing Cayman will not be a typical career fair but will be structured and organized purely as a job marketplace centered around hiring customer service, administration and business support, trade, construction, and landscaping roles.
With the focus on matching qualified candidates with prospective participating employers and companies, it is mandated that participating employers must meet and interview attending candidates and be prepared to hire on the day.
Speaking exclusively to Cayman Marl Road, DaGarro's Myles Newlove indicated his desire to work with a group of like-minded employers and noted:
“This event is unique in that there are actual job opportunities that we are seeking to fill, not just taking applications in. I hope that people will come out and put their best foot forward for these career opportunities. Dagarro is pleased to be participating in this event.”
Organizers said job-seeking attendees would find the process to be simplified and free of typical fair trappings, where companies sign up only to promote their brands instead of actively recruit.
“There is no merchandise or promotion, just the goal of matching job-seeking candidates to companies with open positions,” organizers said.
They warned that persons “should not attend planning to get a pen, t-shirt, or other free promotional merchandise, but instead should plan to learn about and possibly land a job.”
Employing Cayman said it was seeking other like-minded companies who are serious about hiring Caymanians and currently have open positions.
Participating employers and supporters of the initiative already include TechCayman, Daggaro, and Inspire Cayman Training.
Job seekers can also prepare before attending and brush up on their interview skills by registering through WORC or contacting Inspire Cayman Training.
Job seekers may also benefit from an on-site selection of ties, blazers, and other polishing items if they do not have them readily available for themselves on the day.
Employing Cayman said, “Small business plays a significant role in providing opportunities for a ready, willing and able workforce. Aligning businesses with candidates in a “free attendance, not for profit” format will provide the community a unique opportunity to connect available talent with open positions, on the day. Through a “meet and mingle” format, employers will be able to capitalize on a captive audience of available and qualified local Caymanians or those individuals with PR with the right to work.”
Companies or employers may register to participate at the job marketplace at www.employingcayman.com.
Given the cost-neutral structure of the event, select sponsorship opportunities are also available. Those interested in sponsorship may contact [email protected].
