(CMR) The National Roads Authority (NRA) board of directors held an emergency board meeting Friday evening to discuss the initiation of level 4 of the NRA's COVID-19 plan. 8 employees tested positive this week after testing began on Saturday with some results pending.
NRA board chair, Alric Lindsay, confirmed the meeting earlier on Wednesday morning. He clarified that the contact tracking concern on Friday evening was not in relation to staff tests but instead in relation to two NRA parents that have children. Public Health raised a contact tracing concern after a visit to the home of another child who had tested positive. The parents were negative.
Over the weekend, the NRA office underwent deep cleaning, vehicles were cleaned and all staff was encouraged to complete PCR tests. The NRA's managing director, Edward Howard, also utilized the weekend to consider the business continuity plan and alternative operational plans in the event of any positive test results and to minimize disruption of services to the public.
Out of interest for the health and safety of staff, the NRA's offices remained closed on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
With PCR tests having now been completed (but, with some test results outstanding), the NRA's managing director, Edward Howard, confirmed today that there are 8 positive test results.
Howard confirmed that, since plans were made in advance of the positive test results, the NRA is in a position to reopen its offices shortly, however, with some operational adjustments designed to keep staff safe while delivering services to the public.
