(CMR) A repatriation flight has been confirmed for Nicaragua on Friday, August 7 some three and a half months after their original flight was canceled in April by the Nicaraguan government.
The last-minute cancellation left unemployed Nicaraguans stranded in the Cayman Islands and at the mercy of the goodwill of many in the local community.
Reliable sources have confirmed that the Nicaraguan government has finally agreed for its citizens to return provided they are pre-tested for COVID-19 in Cayman before traveling.
Testing will occur on Tuesday, August 4 from 7:00 a.m. til 12:30 p.m. at the drive-thru testing facility at Doctors Hospital Cayman where everyone will have to remain in their car. Only persons registered for the flight will be tested and should take with them some form of government issued identification.
Anyone who does not have the test done will not be able to board the plane to Nicaragua.
