(CMR) A joint customs and police operation in Newlands has resulted in several arrests and the recovery of a firearm.
After real-time reports yesterday of the incident; which saw 6 custom‘s officers and several police at the usually quiet residential area off Elderberry Drive police have now confirmed that a Glock 17 automatic pistol was recovered along with ammunition. We understand the K-9 unit was also on site.
Eyewitnesses informed CMR yesterday that the warrant execution took several hours and multiple packages were taken from the residence in evidence bags.
Two women, age 50 and 27 of George Town, and a man, age 31 of Bodden Town, were arrested in connection with the incident.
All three were arrested on suspicion of Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition).
They remain in police custody as investigation continues.
