(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has confirmed that a man was taken into custody in connection with a shooting on Eastern Avenue that left one man dead.
For several days a picture of the alleged suspect has been circulating on social media and privately. It appears that almost immediately persons were fully aware of who the suspect is that is responsible for the first murder of 2018.
The murder took place on Easter Avenue after 9:00 p.m. and within hours tribute was emerging on social media for the loss of life of the 28-year-old Jamaican national.
CMR had received multiple reports that the suspect had turned himself in to authorities as of yesterday afternoon and that he worked for a local construction company. Both the suspect and the victim are from Jamaican but married to Caymanian and reside here permanently.
