(CMR) Carmeline Williams affectionately known as Ms. Dot will no longer be working at the Government Administrative Building (GAB) as a cleaner after 30 years at that location. Her hardwork and quiet demeanor will be missed by many and were acknowleged by Governor Martyn Roper recently.
Sources shared that she worked at the old Glass House building since 1991 before transferring to work for Reliable Industries who had taken over the cleaning contract from another company. She remained a steasdfast member of their cleaning crew at the GAB.
Reliable Industries will no longer be servicing that building but at age 73, Ms. Dot will continue working with the company.
The governor recognized her departure by sharing on his social media page:
“My staff and I are very saddened that with the change of cleaning contract for the Government Admin Building comes the loss of Ms. Dot a very special member of our office. During her tenure she has cleaned for 10 Governors and has given 30 years of service to the Cayman Islands Government. Her hard-work, cheerfulness, and kind spirit will always be remembered. I look forward to having Ms. Dot join me at Government House for an afternoon tea to hear more stories about her experiences working in the Governor’s Office and in the Government Admin Building. Thank you Ms. Dot, you were an extended member of the Governor’s Office Team!”
Her employer Sharon Smith shared that she is “an outstanding employee” and they have never received a complaint about her nor have they ever heard her complain. Justifiably singing her praises Smith noted that as a Christian lady she exhibited the that christian character through her employment. She sung her praises by noting that she is a very honest, kind, humble and gentle spirit.
They demonstrated their appreciation of her at their annual Christmas party by giving her flowers and a cheque.
Deputy Governor, Franz Manderson also chimed in and shared that “she is an amazing person” and never missed a day at work taking a lot of pride in her work. The Governor, Cabinet Office and DG's office all give her a token of their sincere appreciation.
