(CMR) A 39-year-old man from George Town who reportedly sexually assaulted a female passenger while claiming to be a taxi driver has been charged with indecent assault and assault by penetration in relation to an incident on June 28, 2019.
The man appeared in Summary Court on Tuesday, March 23. While the police did not name the man, Everette Leon Gould was the only person listed on the summary court cases for indecent assault and assault by penetration on Tuesday.
According to police, in July 2019, a female reported that she was a passenger in a taxi when she was assaulted by the man purporting to be a taxi driver. Investigations revealed the man was not a licensed taxi driver but was driving a licensed taxi at the time.
Police said neither the report made by the victim nor subsequent investigations indicated that the driver drugged the victim.
The man, then 37 years old, was subsequently arrested and offered bail with numerous conditions, including not operating a taxi or be out at night.
After the police report came out on Tuesday afternoon, Gould attempted to remove himself from social media platforms.
