(CMR) A Jamaican contestant has placed fourth in this year's Miss World competition in Sanya, China yesterday.
This is the second consecutive year a Jamaican beauty has placed in the top five in the Miss World Pageant.
Miss Jamaica Kadijah Robinson also won the Miss World Caribbean title. Robinson was announced the regional winner after being selected in the Top 12 of the Miss World competition on Saturday.
Robinson is a physical therapist at the Black River hospital in St. Elizabeth. She was featured prominently during the opening number, Dances of the World, where she lead a number of her other Caribbean contestants through the Dances of the World segment.
For her final question, Miss Jamaica was asked what is the greatest difficulty that she had to overcome. She noted that it was building her confidence level.
“The greatest obstacle that I have had to overcome is that of self-confidence and I'm happy that I did as I am here tonight standing in front of you in pure joy and humility. When I was younger I always doubted myself and I always doubted my capabilities. It took me a lot of time to overcome this. I know it takes a lot of communication with self, a lot of thought and its a long process, but I was able to do it. To whoever is listening tonight… I implore you to find yourself and find your niche, it will be the most awesome feeling ever,”
she told a packed arena in Sanya, China yesterday.
Robinson was among three Caribbean beauties, Miss Martinique Larissa Segarel and Miss Barbados Ashely Lashley, selected to be in the Top 30 in the Miss World competition initially along with Miss Barbados Ashely Lashley.
Fourteen Caribbean queens were among the 118 girls competing for the title in Sanya, China.
