“We are saddened by this situation; however, it is important that we each do our part to stop community spread of this virus. We do have a sold-out event but we’ve had to change our protocols to adhere to the Government’s new crowd limits. The committee takes this very seriously and we will ensure all standards and protocols are enforced.”
Committee Chairperson, Derri Dacres-Lee
(CMR) Further to the latest Government mandates surrounding Covid-19 community cases, the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee will be taking extra precautions at this year’s pageant on Saturday, 18 September. Refunds will be available for those who will no longer be attending the event.
The following changes are in effect:
- 100 people to be seated indoors – including sponsors, family members, Government officials
- All attendees seated indoors will be required to wear masks
- 200 people to be seated outdoors (Westin lawn) for live viewing via projector screens
- Masks for outdoor attendees are not mandatory
Those who are slated to view the event indoors have already been contacted by members of the Committee or the contestants. Please email [email protected] if you have a ticket and would like to attend the viewing outside. The contestants will make special appearances on the lawn for those seated outdoors.
The Pageant will start promptly at 7:00 pm, with cocktails from 5:30 pm. It will be live-streamed via CIG TV, Cayman Marl Road and the pageant's IG page. Extended parking is available at Regatta Park (opposite The Westin) and shuttles will take guests to and from the hotel.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our nine intelligent contestants for their dedication and commitment leading up to the Pageant, and to Mariah Tibbetts, our reigning queen, on a job well done over the past year,” added Ms. Dacres-Lee.
