(CMR) Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley could visit the Cayman Islands for the Caribbean Tourism Organization high-level regional conference later this year.
Mottley is expected to be among international delegates visiting for the conference, which will be held the 12- 15 of September, Minister of Tourism and Transport Kenneth Bryan said during an interview on CMR's The Cold Hard Truth on Wednesday 1, June.
Mr. Bryan said the conference, which will be hosted by his Ministry and the Department of Tourism, expects tourism ministers from across the Caribbean to meet to discuss tourism in the region and the effects of covid and moving forward.
“I am excited to be the host minister and also to learn from all my colleagues,” Mr. Bryan said.
He explained that Cayman industry stakeholders, regional ministers, senior executives from airlines across the region, international delegates, and regional and international media are expected to be in the islands during that time.
Mr. Bryan said he is excited about the conference as it allows the Cayman Islands to continue to be at the forefront of tourism and financial services.
“We have been the gem of the Caribbean… For the Cayman Islands to be chosen as the conference location to bring all the leaders across the region to one location to discuss how covid has affected us from a tourism perspective, there is so much welcomed knowledge that will be at this conference, and we should be proud as a jurisdiction to be hosting it,” the minister stated.
He said he was looking forward to learning from his colleagues to ensure Cayman continues having a robust system and making a full recovery from COVID-19.
