(CMR) The teenage son of popular Jamaican Dancehall artiste Mavado has been found guilty of murder.
Dante Brooks (18) was convicted for the 2018 murder of Lorenzo Thomas in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston on Wednesday.
He was also found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm and arson.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Brooks and his co-accused Andre Hinds, who was also found guilty, were among five men who entered a house in Cassava Piece, St Andrew, on July 5, 2018, and shot Thomas before pushing his father from the room.
They then attempted to sever Thomas' head but aborted the plan because the machete was too dull. The men then set fire to the house and body.
Thomas' father was the main witness in the murder trial.
Both Brooks and Hinds were remanded to be sentenced on March 10.
