(CMR) Maples partner, David Marshall (49), has been arrested and criminally charged in Miami Beach, Florida for what is being called a violent assault on his wife on his birthday.
The incident occurred over the weekend on Saturday, October 5th and he has since been charged with BATTERY/AGGRAVATED/GREAT BODILY HARM according to Miami-Dade County court records.
Marshall has been a partner with Maples for about 7 years; having joined the firm after leaving his partnership at Cayman's other top law firm, Walkers. Prior to that, he worked as an Associate at the U.S. law firm of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP.
Maples website states that Marshall is a partner in the Maples Group's Funds & Investment Management team. He specializes in the establishment and structuring of complex private equity funds and hedge funds, as well as providing ongoing advice on their continuation and downstream transactions, including mergers, joint ventures, reorganizations, acquisitions and disposals, and all general corporate matters. He acts for a varied cross-section of clients, ranging from top tier international private equity houses to boutique hedge funds.
CMR reached out to Managing Partner, Paul Lumsden for comment but none was received by the time of publication.
