(CMR) Cayman Marl Road received several tips on Saturday morning that there was an altercation on Friday evening outside the Cave Bar in North Side.
Eyewitnesses were quick to inform us that the incident stems from another incident that was reported on last week that involved school children and adults on a bus. We understand the same female adults that went on the school bus have now attacked a man related to some of the children from the high school.
According to police reports shortly before 11:00 pm on Friday, 14 September, officers responded to a report of an altercation outside a bar on Frank Sound Road in North Side, involving a man and two women who are known to each other. The man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and subsequently released. A car at the location was also damaged during the altercation. The police are currently investigating the matter.
Eyewitnesses claim that they approached the 22 -year-old male and allegedly assaulted him twice with the beer bottle. Initially he did not respond. However, they left to go to their car and returned to continue the alleged assaulted.
At that point both his mother and little sister were called derogatory female terms at which point he then started to defend himself. Both ladies threw him to the ground where he injured his shoulder and with one person holding him the other bit him on his forehead. One of the ladies then proceeded to kick him in his head whilst he was on the ground. He then got the upper hand and started to fight the women off but was scratched in the face and bitten on the arm. Some other people injected at that point and broke up the fight by pulling the women off him.
At that point the owner of the establishment asked him to go inside and call the police. He received a tetanus shot and treatment fro the bite marks at the hospital.
Despite the police calling his injuries minor we understand from eyewitnesses at the scene that he sustained multiple lacerations caused by being hit in the head several times with a beer bottle as well as being bitten at least three times.
His shoulder was also almost broken during the attack and he had to be transported to the government hospital by ambulance. He was later treated at Health City. We understand he will be off from work for at least a week to recover from his injuries.
Sources familiar with the situation indicate that one of the girls that was threatened on the bus is the younger sister of this man that was assaulted.
We have also confirmed that one of the ladies works for the Department of Environment and the other a local bank. A police report has been made to the Bodden Town Police Station.
