(CMR) One of two armed men who robbed a group at Welly's Restaurant on Sound Way in George Town Thursday night has been arrested by the police.
Police reports are that shortly before 7:40 pm last night, 23 December, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a robbery on the restaurant's premises. It was reported that two masked men on a motorcycle approached a group of persons at the location. One of the men brandished a gun and demanded cash from the group. The men then fled the location on the motorcycle with a quantity of money.
No shots were fired, and no one was injured during the incident.
Officers responded immediately and, with the assistance of the police helicopter, located the motorcycle which had been abandoned on Helen Drive. One of the suspects was subsequently located nearby and taken into custody. No firearm was recovered.
The man, age 23, of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody as investigations continue.
