(CMR) As the wave of vehicle-related crimes continue another person has become victim to a car theft in the Spotts-Newlands area yesterday morning, August 28, between 4:00 -4:15 am.
A slim built male can be seen checking car doors at a residence off Bedrock Circle in Spots Newlands area. The thief can then be seen entering a truck in the yard of the family where he hit the jackpot when he finds $998 in the truck.
The owner of the truck had just cashed a cheque earlier in the day and the bank took the $2.00 out of the $1,000.00 cheque leaving the $998 – which this bandit made off with.
He appears to have a large tattoo on his right arm and has his face covered. However, he drove to the scene of the incident in what looks like a silver Honda CRV.
There has been a wave of car-related crimes including car thefts and people breaking into vehicles and then setting them on fire. Owners are encouraged to not leave spare keys lying around and to secure their personal belongings elsewhere as well as locking their vehicles.
If you have any information on who this may be you are urged to report it to the police or CrimeStoppers.
