(CMR) A lost burial order prevented the body of reggae legend Toots Hibbert from being interred in the Dovecot Memorial Park in Spanish Town on Thursday (October 15).
Hibbert's body had to be returned to the funeral home following the failure to produce the burial order which is necessary for a burial to take place.
Under Jamaican legislation, no burial can take place without a burial order which is given following a post mortem and is issued by the police.
Mourners who attended the small funeral for the legendary artiste noted that the ordeal has been very unfortunate and has cast a damper on an already sad occasion.
Hibbert died on September 11 and was a part of the band Toots and the Maytals.
The legendary artiste is credited for first using the term ‘reggae' and for popularizing the genre.
