(CMR) Former CINICO CEO, Lonny Tibbetts, is appearing in court for assault ABH and insulting the modesty of a woman after he's alleged to have attacked a woman unknown to him because she told his girlfriend that she's a lesbian.
The allegations are that Tibbetts picked up his Spanish girlfriend along with a few others and took them from Roti Shop to Al La Kebab on Lawrence Blvd., West Bay Road. At some point, the alleged victim joined them there. She indicated the need to go to the bathroom at which point Tibbetts called her a “puta”. She retorted by stating that she's a lesbian which enraged him. He later shared with security at the scene:
“she told my girlfriend that she is a lesbian and that got me upset and that is why I'm not paying for her food”.
At that point, he then started throwing food at her. A security guard witnessed the incident but initially was of the mistaken belief that the parties were “playing around”. However, he soon realized the seriousness of the situation after Tibbetts allegedly grabbed her by the hair and caused her to fall to the ground. At that point, the security guard intervened.
The victim said that she did not know Tibbetts and had not met him before this incident.
Tibbetts got in his vehicle and left and the police were contacted. He was later arrested and provided a no comment interview on April 29, 2019.
She later required medical intervention for injuries to her finger and shin at Health City.
The court records indicate that the Hawkeye Security guard left the island almost immediately on May 9 and returned to Jamaica. Additionally, CCTV footage from Al La Kebab mysteriously malfunctioned for that time period and no useful footage was able to be retrieved.
