(CMR) The Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa has canceled some 200+ tickets for the Sparklez New Years' Eve Party this evening over concerns about it exceeding the 500 person public gathering limit currently in place under the COVID-19 regulations.
Sources close to the situation indicate that they were hopeful that given the size of the venue they were hoping that the authorities would have allowed the excess persons to be in a separate area. There is a premium VIP deck area along with the ultra VIP cabana. However, that option was abandoned late in the evening and an email was sent around 4:09 p.m. canceling the overage tickets.
The email sent out by the event organizers, Party Surfers, shared that people would receive refunds in 7-10 days. They decided to offer a “one-time exception” in good faith and issue a 100% refund on the ticket fee via EventPro.

The government issued an advisory notice several days ago reminds liquor license holders that the current gathering limitation remains at 500 for any public gathering including hotels, restaurants, bars, and special events etc. Anyone in contravention of the regulations is liable on conviction to a fine of $10,000 and imprisonment for two years.
