(CMR) KAABOO Cayman has been canceled two weeks after CMR heard rumors that negotiations for the big music festival were not going well. All mention of Kaaboo Cayman on their social media platforms has disappeared.
We initially posted the rumor on our page only to be called “fake news” by a few doubting Thomas. However, from then there were telltale signs that something was amiss. Now, the organizers have confirmed that the 2020 event has been canceled and refunds will be issued for persons who pre-purchased their tickets.
Despite what outwardly appeared to be a very successful event the organizers were not on the same page. One insider noted:
“It was a matter of control of what could be a much larger event. Cayman doesn’t often draw enough numbers to make a profit when you have big headliners that command a lot of money to get on stage. The numbers were good but number crunchers wondered if it truly was good enough.”
The marl road was abuzz of the fact that the Kaaboo entity and Dart, their local partners, were not able to come to a mutual decision on how to move forward. It appears from what is being said that the event was a logistical nightmare for Dart with little returns to make it worth the overall investment.
There was also some dispute about the event name.
Apparently, despite the crowds that came in for the event it was simply not enough to satisfy all the corporate entities involved.
Dart provided the venue and local logistics for the artists and organizers.
“After much contemplation, the partners behind KAABOO Cayman regret to announce that KAABOO will not be returning to the Cayman Islands in 2020 as originally planned.”

He has a hospitality background and said in an interview some years back that his vision was more than just a music festival but wished to encompass comedy, art, food and more.
