(CMR)Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have officially been sworn in as the 46th president and vice-president of the United States.
They took their oath of office from two Supreme Court Justices, Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
President Biden, in his inauguration speech, called for unity. He said,
“We can treat each other with dignity and respect. We can join forces, stop the shouting and lower the temperature. For without unity, there is no peace, only bitterness and fury. No progress, only exhausting outrage.”
At 78 years old, Biden is the oldest US president to take the oath of office and the 15th vice president to become president.
Kamala Harris is the first female, Black, and South Asian person to hold the vice president's position.
