(CMR) Cayman Islands Olympic swimmer Jillian Crooks (15) did her country proud Wednesday with a personal best time of 57.32 in the 100m freestyle, setting new CIASA and National LC records.
Although she did not advance to the semifinals, Crooks placed second in her heat at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She beat six other competitors; however, her time was not fast enough for her to advance to the next round.
Crooks who trains with her brother Jordan under the guidance of Grant Fergusson is Cayman's youngest Olympian.
“She is happy with her performance and feels she gave it her all… Her first appearance at the Olympics but we are sure it won’t be her last as she is one determined,” read a statement on Jillian Crooks Road To Tokyo Facebook page.
