(CMR) Jamaican national junior record shot put holder Kevin Nedrick was represented by lawyer Steven Drummond when he appeared in court last week.
The former Petersfield High school star, who now attends the University of Minnesota, is facing allegations of sexual assault.
Nedrick remains in jail in lieu of the $10,000 bail.
Reports are that Nedrick was arrested and charged on August 25 for allegedly assaulting a woman in her campus apartment.
The assault is said to have occurred after celebrating the woman's roommate's 21st birthday the previous night.
According to a statement from the university, Nedrick has been suspended from all team activities.
The university further said that federal and state laws governing private student information prevented them from sharing further details.
CEO of Team Jamaica Bickle, Irwine Clare, said his organisation was looking to assist Nedrick.
