(CMR) Jamaica is issuing a State of Public Emergency (SOE) to be declared for certain areas of Kingston's Metropolitan region effective from 5:00 pm this evening for an initial period of 14 days.
According to a press release from the Jamaican Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force the specified boundaries include parts of the Kingston Central, Kingston Western and St Andrew South Police Divisions effective Sunday September 23, 2018.
It states in part that:
At 5:00 am today, the JCF and the JDF deployed to sections of the following communities that fall within the boundaries of the declared State of Emergency:
• Central Downtown (Market & Business Districts
• Denham Town
• Greenwich Town
• Hannah Town
• Jones Town
• Tivoli Gardens
• Trench Town (Rose Town & Arnett Gardens) and
• Whitfield Town

Caymanians travelling to Jamaica during this period should be mindful of the SOE.
