Tommy Lee was apprehended by police during a routine traffic stop on December 14.
An illegal 9mm pistol with an extended magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition was found in the entertainer's possession.
Sparta was allegedly found with the gun and ammunition in his waistband, sources say.
The entertainer could face up to 5 years in prison for the offenses if convicted.
