(CMR) A Grenada man who snuck into a quarantine facility to visit his intimate partner was rushed to hospital after he broke his leg at the institution.
Reports are that late last week, security personnel observed a strange man at what is considered as “safe quarantine facility” entering a room.
Law and health officials were called and they began searching the room for the man who they believed to be an intruder.
The man who was hiding in the closet is said to have tried to make his escape by jumping from the hotel room.
However, following his jump the man was unable to move and an ambulance was called to the scene.
Residents at the facility have reported that they saw when the man was lifted into the ambulance with health providers dressed in PPE assisting him.
Grenada's Quarantine Act mandates that incoming travellers spend a minimum of 4 days in quarantine and obtain a negative PCR test before they are allowed into the general population.
The country has 24 coronavirus cases with the last positive test coming in mid-July.
