(CMR) HE The Governor Martyn Roper has issued a proclamation today for a meeting of Parliament to be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Cayman Islands Gazette.
Members of Parliament will be sworn in at the meeting, with the swearing-in of a new Cabinet following immediately afterward, on Fort Street, outside the House of Parliament.
The announcement came after he received a revised letter from Wayne Panton earlier this afternoon with the signatures of 10 elected persons who are currently supporting Panton's leadership and the formation of a new government. The new letter confirmed that a majority of elected candidates who were successful in the recent General Election still support his appointment.
This confirmation comes after the Progressives continue to question the legitimacy of the PACT claiming that they do not have sufficient numbers. In fact, rumors were in circulation this afternoon that the Progressives were exploring the option of mounting a legal challenge to stop the Independents from forming the government.
Despite their numerous claims about the election they have failed to submit anything to the governor.
