(CMR) A 22-year-old-man of George Town was charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an offense, along with two counts of possession of controlled drugs, cocaine and ganja.
These charges follow an incident that took place on 27 July, where police stopped a vehicle along School Road, and the driver of the vehicle fled on foot. The man was seen carrying what appeared to be a firearm as he ran from the officers; however, he fled the location and escaped.
The passenger of the vehicle, a 30-year-old-man of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja and was subsequently bailed by Police.
The 22-year-old-man, who was the driver in this incident, was arrested on Friday and kept in custody prior to being charged. He appeared in court on Monday, 9 August, where he was bailed to return on 14 September.
