(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said officers would be making frequent checks at bars and clubs across the island this long weekend between Friday 11 June to Monday 14 June. These patrols are to help prevent violent crimes and public order issues that arise in these locations.
Proprietors of liquor license establishments are being asked to pay attention to what their licenses allow them to do on each day, specifically, their opening and closing times and when music and dancing are allowed.
“We are encouraging all owners to ensure their businesses are compliant with the Liquor Licensing Act to avoid any penalties, including the non-renewal of licenses for businesses who have multiple breaches. A person, who commits an offense under the Liquor Licensing Act, is liable on summary conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars and imprisonment for one year and, on a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine of two thousand dollars and imprisonment for two years,” Liquor Licensing Board said.
The RCIPS said as the police and partner agencies are making every effort to “Make the Cayman Islands Safer”, they encourage everyone to do the same by following the laws which were set out to keep the peace and keep everyone safe.
