(CMR) Reformed inmate Kerry Tibbetts-Whittaker is offering “ex-inmate reintegration services” for inmates leaving prison.
The services were recently advertised on her Facebook business page (KRW Personal Services) and claim to offer inmates the ability to reintegrate into society. When contacted she explained the services to us:
“The idea of the service was from seeing others coming out of HMP and are a long sentence they are unsure what they have to do to get themselves back into the community and adjusted.”
She continued that,
The service will guide them as to what is new and what they will have to do to get back on their feet and re-establish their lives in the community. Everyone makes mistakes, and once that debt has been paid, the individual should have the opportunity to prove themselves again by becoming a better citizen and not having to live with the stigma that society places on them. Therefore, we have designed a concept that will aid in the reintegration process, and we will, of course, require the full cooperation of the candidate to help them achieve success.
While there are no specific details of what the reintegration includes the inmates will be charged $175.00 for these services. The post did attract some negatives comments from another Facebook page (Fake New Caymanian) where her skills were called into question.
While not everyone is a fan of the idea; there are many who support her given her previous experience with the penal system.
One Facebook fan said,
“As a former inmate I believe Kerry has the knowledge to know how difficult reintegration is and I'm sure she can offer them a sympathetic ear at the very least.”
We understand that Tibbetts-Whittaker served time for theft which she claims were set up and has since owned several businesses; this one is her latest venture offering a variety of services to the community.
