(CMR) A couple of former detectives with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) were recently embroiled in a workplace affair in the UK – all thanks to their doorbell camera.
The story was recently shared in a number of UK publications where it was revealed that Surrey Police Deputy Chief Constantable Nev Kemp (48) was caught arranging a hotel hookup with a female officer, Sgt. Rachel Johnson (38).
Rachael (Shephard) Johnson worked with the RCIPS from December 2010 to November 2014 according to her LinkedIn account as a detective. She is also a Kingston University law school graduate. Her husband was also a detective on the RCIPS.
Rachel's husband, Ross Johnson (40), who is also now a police sergeant overheard the pair making plans to meet up at a hotel. The doorbell camera recorded the wife on the phone with Kemp. When confronted by her husband she admitted to the affair.
Ross is said to have extensive training in surveillance as part of his job.
Ross then reported the senior officer to their superiors at the Surrey Police Headquarters. Rachel claimed to be vulnerable after a recent death in the family. Ironically Kemp replaced another senior officer who left that job after he retired for his own “inappropriate relationship” with a female inspector.
Rachel worked on personnel matters and criminal justice at Surrey Police’s HQ in Guildford.
It is against policy for agents to have relationships within the same team.
