(CMR) American actor and comedian Kevin Hart sustained “major back injuries” early Sunday morning after his driver crashed in the Malibu Hills/ Calabasas, area of California.
Reports are that Hart (40) was being driven in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda on Mulholland Highway at the time of the incident. He had just purchased the car for his 40th birth in July.
The driver, Jared Black (28), lost control of the car and it tumbled into an embankment, a police report stated. It ended up in a gully 10 feet off the treacherous Mullholland Highway. The roof of the car was said to have been almost completely crushed.
The accident happened just after midnight. A third passenger was unharmed. Black, the fiance of the third passenger, Rebecca Broxterman, was determined not to have been driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
Two of the three occupants were trapped in the vehicle. Hart left the scene to his nearby residence to get medical attention, the report states. Hart was later taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Centre and the driver was taken to another hospital, the patrol report said.
Hart is able to walk this morning and control of his limbs but may require back surgery.
