(CMR) The Jamaica Constabulary Force arrested four of its members who are said to be a part of a major Clarendon-based gang.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of crime Fitz Bailey said the constables were among eight members of the force who have been identified as part of the Ranko Gang. The four constables were arrested last week after they were identified among 27 members of the criminal organization.

The cops were arrested following a series of robberies which caused the police to suspect that members of the JCF were involved.

They were arrested in a coordinated operation involving members of the Clarendon Police Division and the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Division.

A fifth cop who was identified as part of the operation fled the island some time ago, while three other accused cops are already in custody. They include Constable Tafari Silvera, said to be the leader of the gang.
