(CMR) A moderate 4.7 magnitude earthquake was reportedly felt 200 kilometers south of the Cayman Islands at 9:35 this morning.
The tremor was felt in parts of Kingston and St. Andrew but no local reports were made in Cayman.
It occured at a dept of 10 kilometers at 18.062N 79.670W.
The Cayman Islands is located close to a transform plate boundary line where the North American Plate slides past the Caribbean Plate. HMCI reminds the public that large earthquakes are rare in the Cayman Islands but still possible.
