(CMR) The Chief Medical Officer shared today that his heart was heavy yesterday but it is much lighter today after only one positive results has returned out of 346 tests.
One distressing bit of news is that the one hospitalized person has deteriorated and now has been placed on a respirator.
The positive result is a returning traveler. The one positive student remains a bit of a mystery but Dr. Lee explains he does not believe that he is a clinical threat to anyone.
The child was counted as positive after a thorough review of all aspects of the case including that she had respiratory issues.
Despite the good news, some students at Red Bay Primary will have to isolate for 14 days. It was explained that there are no plans at this time to use the iSmart geofencing technology that incoming travelers are using.
In fact, it was explained that government does not have the available resources to include the large numbers that now have to self isolate at home.
The 54 students will include all Red Bay Year 2 Groups who will have online instructions from Monday thru Thursday. Then mid-term break is taken. So they will not be missing much in-class instruction time. The impacted group includes six teachers.
The Public Health staff worked well into the night in order to have the results available by 4 a.m. this morning.
Dr. Lee has indicated he will likely subject the school group to anti-body testing as the results could prove useful. However, they will need to wait 28 days to get the most useful results.
