(CMR) Dear CMR we have heard some rumors surrounding new appointments about the Cayman Islands Port Authority. Can you confirm?
RUMORS are circulating that the new port director will be Haroon Pandohie current Director of Planning. In addition, the new board chairman for the port authority is slated to be retired civil servant Kearney Gomez.
Kearney Gomez is a long-serving civil servant who served in numerous capacities during his career and retired in 2012 as a chief officer in the Ministry of District Administration. He has also acted as the temporary first official member of the Legislative Assembly. He's also served on boards including as the Water Authority Chairman and Cayman Islands’ elections supervisor. He would now be replacing former port chair Errol Bush who retired for personal reasons in June of last year. Bush who was in his 80s joined the port as deputy port director of finance in 1979. Since his retirement, Arek Joseph has been acting.
Pandohie is the current director of Planning and has been in that post for over nine years. He would be taking over from Joseph Wood, who has been acting port authority director. Our sources indicate Wood did not apply for the position.
We feel confident that these marl road rumors are true!
