(CMR) Professional boxer Peter “Lightning” Lewison has been moonlighting as a taxi driver while being disqualified from driving and allegedly offering female passengers drugs according to numerous complaints received to Cayman Marl Road over the past several weeks.

The original poster said that she wanted to warn other women that she encountered a taxi driver over the weekend that”

“was creepy and perverted and he thought he could take advantage of me with money.”

Female victim
Facebook post by one of his “passengers” shared on October 28,2019

When contacted she shared her full story with is. The young lady was leaving a party by Britannia in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 26 when she encountered Lewison. She shared that he pulled up next to her as she was going to her parked car to obtain something from the vehicle after she had already called for a taxi. He informed her that he was a taxi driver and he could take her home safely.

He informed her that the fee was $25.00 and when she gave him a $50.00 he refused to give her change. She then started arguing with him about the agreed upon fare and sent to her house. Apparently, he then claimed that he did not have any change for the $50.00 she had given him and then proceeded to knock on the door of her residence to inform her that he would return the following day to give her the change. It was at this stage he offered her marijuana instead of her change and she refused.

He continued to stand at her door and refused to leave and then lifted up her dress. She then slammed the door in his face.

Apparently Lewison drives a taxi cab style vehicle despite not being registered as a taxi driver with the Public Transport Unit in the Cayman Islands and still being disqualified for three more years. CMR verified that he's not a licensed driver at all. Apparently he's driving a taxi style vehicle that has letting and a sign on that stating it's a taxi.

After this first incident was shared on social media that did not stop Lewison from once again moonlighting this weekend at Royal Palms where he picked up another young lady on Friday evening. She confirmed that the vehicle did have taxi written on it on both the top and sides. She shared “it looked exactly like a taxi”.

Lewison is now moonlighting a taxi driver

Lewison is no stranger to issues with the law when in December 2014 he was jailed for 10 weeks after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified on four separate occasions. At the time Magistrate Kirsty-Ann Gunn imposed the sentenced she also disqualified him from driving for a total of eight years. The magistrate said that he would not be receiving any special treatment because he was a professional boxer and that:

“Being disqualified for eight years will be a burden and significant inconvenience, but that was clearly what the legislature intended. The message must be to the defendant and others that driving while disqualified will not be tolerated.”

Magistrate Kirsty-Ann Gunn

Each time Lewison was stopped, he was found to be driving without insurance and using a vehicle with an expired license and without a certificate of roadworthiness. For these offenses plus one failure to attend court, he was fined a total of $1,150 and given six months to pay after his release.

Another person who is a recovering addict said that he often offers them a ride stating:

“He tried to pick me up a couple of times because I like to go gas station late to get cappuccino and he offered me the drug of my choice he said he can get it.”

They described the vehicle as being a white caravan. After the initial publication of this article another person came forward and stated that they were on the side of the road on October 26 also; when he stopped and offered them a ride indicating he had started a “luxury car service”. He gave the two women a ride to their destination and insisted on coming inside the residence to “help take my friend inside”. There was already a male at the residence who opened the door and Lewison then left.

Lewison is not supposed to be eligible to drive again until February 2022. The matter has now been reported to the authorities who are said to be looking into it.

Lewison married in 2016 and was supposed to be living in Atlanta.
