(CMR) The Cayman Islands Public Library Services (CIPL) has announced that all public libraries will be closed on Monday, November 1, following the sudden passing of Director Paul Robinson.
Regular opening hours will resume on Tuesday, November 2. The CIPL asks that the public be understanding during this difficult time.
Paul Robinson, who is originally from Liverpool in England, worked as acting director of the Library Services from 2013 to 2018 when he was employed as director. Prior to his role as acting director, Robinson served as Senior Records Policy Advisor for the Cayman Islands National Archives.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Robinson has 23 years of experience working as an information manager and professional working both in the private and public sectors. This included 11 years working in the UK broadcasting industry and nine years in Government. He worked in Bermuda prior to coming to the Cayman Islands.
He also served as chairperson of the Cayman Islands Information Professionals (CIIP), a member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals UK (CILIP), and the American Library Association (ALA).
