(CMR) Dexter Bodden (61) affectionately known as the Cayman Cowboy received a suspended after Justice Marlene Carter set aside the 20-month sentence today for wounding. He had pleaded guilty to wounding after he attacked an alleged thief with a machete.
Bodden maintained that he had been burgled numerous times and on this occassion when he found the man outside by his truck he responded with excesssive force. Carter held that his record and unblemished character meant that despite the serious of the offense a suspended sentence was still appropriate in the circumstances.
She also ordered that he attend anger management counselling. Bodden was also a victim of a shooting shortly after this incide.
