(CMR) Dr. Chabienauth Samaroo Deputy Principal at John Gray High School has been placed on required leave following an alleged assault on a student. CMR was alerted to the incident on Tuesday afternoon after a tipster shared that there was some sort of a physical altercation between a student and teacher.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that an incident did take place on Tuesday, April 5 and that “immediate actions” were taken to address the allegations in accordance with the protocols for addressing child protection allegations involving staff.
CMR sources explained that the incident started innocently enough with the deputy principal and a student “joking around”. However, it eventually lead to the student “overreacting” and his West Bay father attending the school and confronting Dr. Samaroo. That lead to the police then becoming involved after the parent made serious allegations of assault.
The investigations continue among a very non-descript media response with most at the school being very tight lipped about the incident. CMR does understand that the mother of the child is “politically connected” and may actually work for a political figure.
Dr. Samaroo has been a well respected member of the John Gray administration for decades.
