(CMR) The Civil Service have received a stark warning from Deputy Governor Franz Manderson that they should remain political impartial leading up to the referendum pursuant to the Public Servants Code of Conduct.
The two-page letter issued to all civil servants on October 25 read in part:
Manderson has reminded them of the necessity to remain impartial on this topic and should not be seen to be taking a position on the cruise berthing referendum either way especially when it comes the execution of their duties.
The move has been criticized by some as attempting to silence government employees. Government is the largest employer on the island.
