(CMR) After just two years on the job; the director of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has resigned effective November 9, 2018.
Felicia Robinson took up the director post in October 2016 after an open recruitment drive. Robinson is originally from Barbados and a former director with the St. Lucia government. At the time it was said that she worked in the social work sector for over 20 years in 22 different jurisdictions.
Government officials said she brought
“a wealth of knowledge in social work, policy and legal drafting”,
She was also said to be a child protection and policy specialist having previously worked to develop social and public policies within public and private entities and with civil society, government leaders, senior public officials, regional and international professionals, as well as experts across multiple fields.
It is unclear why Robinson would be leaving the post so soon after this glaring appointment. However, CMR sources have indicated that government was not going to renew her contract since August and that the post is slated to go to Caymanian who has been with the department for some time. The marl road is abuzz that Paulinda Mendoza will be appointed in January to the director post.
