(CMR) Dart has successfully applied for and received permission to build a centralized commercial laundry facility for its own hospitality properties. The Central Planning Authority application stated that Dart hopes to address operational efficiency issues as well as reduce the environmental impact of having different on-site facilities.
It appears that the individual properties will contract out the services to the location; which is intended to be completed by next year. They estimate about 80 vehicles per day to use the facility located in the Industrial Park area of Sparky Drive.
Dart cited a significant reduction of its carbon footprint by noted that water consumption associated with laundering would be reduced from 23M gallons to 5.2M gallons on an annual basis. This would also translate into a reduction of the electricity and by extension CO2 used as well. The facility will use diesel generators with a 5,000-gallon diesel fuel tank, two 100,000 gallon water storage tanks, tow 10,000 gallon LPG tanks and a 5′ chain link fence.
The facility will not be opened to the public. Currently, Dart owns Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, The Residences at Seafire Vacation Rentals, The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, The Ritz-Carlton Residence Vacation Rentals, Comfort Suites (expected to be rebranded) and Le Soleil D'Or in Cayman Brac.
